Ashfall Wardens

★★★★★ 4.6 Editor rating

Ashfall Wardens is a proper little RPG that respects your time. You lead a party of four through turn-based fights, each character with a role you can retool between battles. The writing is dry and funny in places, and the world has this lived-in frontier feel — everyone's tired, everyone's got a grudge, and you're the one patching it together. Combat is where it shines. Positioning matters, cooldowns matter, and you can't just spam your strongest skill because the enemy ash-beasts punish repetition. I lost a fight twice before I understood I was supposed to split my party, and the moment it clicked felt genuinely earned. The town-building layer between quests is light but satisfying. You unlock crafting stations, each one changing what gear you can make, and it gives the loop a nice rhythm: fight, gather, improve, fight again. It runs well on older phones too, which I appreciated.
