How we actually choose what to review

People ask how games end up on Pocket Dusk, and the honest answer is less exciting than they hope. It usually starts with one of us stumbling on something and refusing to shut up about it in the chat. From there, somebody commits to playing it for real. Not a demo, not fifteen minutes — several hours at least, enough to hit the point where a game either reveals its depth or runs out of ideas. Plenty of titles get quietly dropped at that stage, and that's fine. We try to keep the catalog spread across genres on purpose. It's easy to drown in puzzle games because they're everywhere, so we make a point of hunting down strategy, RPGs, racers, the lot. A balanced shelf is more useful to a reader than ten versions of the same match-three. The last filter is simple: would one of us recommend this to a friend with a straight face? If yes, it gets a write-up. If it's forgettable, we move on and don't bother.
